Kiln Refractory Materials in Kenya | Bricks, Castables & Insulation for Pottery & Industrial Kilns +254 722401175

Looking to build or refurbish a kiln in Kenya or East Africa? Whether it’s for pottery, ceramics, lime production, or industrial heat treatment, having the right refractory materials is critical to ensure long-term durability, energy efficiency, and safe operation.

At Insulation World Kenya Ltd, we supply everything you need to line and insulate kilns of all sizes and types—trusted by artisans, manufacturers, and institutions across the region.

Essential Refractory Materials for Kilns

1. Fire Bricks (40% & 70% Alumina)

Our high-temperature fire bricks are used for lining the hot face of kilns. Depending on your application and peak temperatures, we offer:

40% Alumina Bricks

  • Max Temp: ~1400°C

  • Suitable for general kiln walls and roofing

  • Durable and economical

70% Alumina Bricks

  • Max Temp: ~1600°C

  • Superior thermal resistance and low porosity

  • Ideal for intense heat zones and burner areas

✔ Common Uses: Pottery kilns, lime kilns, ceramic firing chambers

2. Refractory Castables (Maxheat K & Maxheat A)

For monolithic linings, patchwork, or areas requiring shaped components, our castable refractories are a perfect solution.

Maxheat K (1600°C)

  • High-alumina castable for general kiln construction

  • Used in floors, domes, burner surrounds, and door frames

  • Mixes with clean water only—no additives needed

Maxheat A (1750°C)

  • Extra-high temperature resistance for heavy-duty kilns

  • Performs under direct flame, slag, and thermal cycling

  • Ideal for extreme wear zones or gas-fired kilns

✔ Preferred for: Flexible shaping, fast repairs, and areas fire bricks can’t easily cover

3. Ceramic Fiber Blankets (25mm & 50mm | 1260°C)

Ceramic blankets are lightweight insulation materials placed behind brick or castable linings. They reduce fuel use, retain heat, and prevent outer shell overheating.

  • 25mm Blanket – ideal for general insulation

  • 50mm Blanket – provides maximum energy efficiency

  • Excellent for kiln walls, roofs, and doors

✔ Reduces firing time, improves heat retention, lowers external surface temps

4. Insulation Boards – Ceramic & Calcium Silicate

Insulation boards are used underneath kilns, on doors, or for structural insulation behind linings.

Ceramic Fiber Board (1260°C)

  • Great for high-heat surfaces, dome linings, and curved shapes

  • Excellent thermal shock resistance

Calcium Silicate Board (1000°C)

  • Higher compressive strength

  • Suitable for kiln bases or backing insulation in rigid applications

 Ideal Kiln Construction Setup:
