 1. Fire Bricks (40% & 70% Alumina)

Fire bricks form the primary lining of most furnaces. The choice of alumina content depends on the furnace temperature and the type of fuel or material processed.

40% Alumina Fire Bricks

  • Max Temp: ~1400°C

  • Ideal for general furnace walls and chambers

  • Durable and cost-effective

70% Alumina Fire Bricks

  • Max Temp: ~1600°C

  • Higher resistance to slag, abrasion, and chemical attack

  • Preferred for melting zones, burner areas, or contact with molten metal

✔ Used in: Foundry furnaces, glass kilns, pottery kilns, forge furnaces

 2. Refractory Castables (Maxheat K & Maxheat A)

Maxheat K (1600°C)

  • Used for casting walls, furnace floors, and dome linings

  • High strength and excellent resistance to thermal cycling

  • Easy to mix with clean water—no additives required

Maxheat A (1750°C)

  • High alumina, ultra-high temperature castable

  • Ideal for slag zones, burner blocks, and molten contact areas

  • Withstands direct flame exposure and mechanical load

✔ Why Preferred: Castables allow customized shapes, repair of worn-out sections, and monolithic linings where bricks won’t fit

 3. Ceramic Fiber Blankets (25mm & 50mm)

These flexible insulation blankets are installed behind refractory bricks or castables to reduce heat loss and improve energy efficiency.

  • Max Temp: 1260°C

  • Available in 25mm and 50mm thickness

  • Lightweight, low thermal conductivity

  • Excellent for backup insulation in furnace walls, doors, and flues

✔ Why Preferred: They cut down on fuel use, reduce heat loss, and maintain outer shell safety temperatures

 4. Calcium Silicate & Ceramic Fiber Boards

Rigid insulation boards are often placed:

  • Underneath furnace floors

  • Around inspection ports and access doors

  • Behind brick linings

Calcium Silicate Board (1000°C):

  • High strength, good for structural support and base insulation

Ceramic Fiber Board (1260°C):

  • Higher temperature resistance, excellent thermal shock resistance

  • Ideal for hot face insulation where space is limited

✔ Why Preferred: Boards provide clean, rigid insulation layers that reduce heat transfer and stabilize furnace lining

 How These Materials Work Together in a Furnace:

  1. Fire Bricks form the hot-face lining (direct flame/heat contact)

  2. Castables are used to cast shapes, fill gaps, or create monolithic linings

  3. Ceramic Blankets act as backup insulation behind bricks or castables

  4. Insulation Boards provide rigid floor or wall insulation, especially under fire bricks
